A few recent walk-abouts

After many days of heavy rain, I made the most of a cool sunny day, and went up the cableway late on the last afternoon of May.

The cold breeze soon froze my hands to an unpleasant numbness, but I took some pictures of the setting sun over an oncoming cold front of clouds rolling in, before joining a busy queue for the last cable-car down (early closing at 18H00 for the winter months).

On a recent walk-through the V+A Waterfront, I cellphone snapped a visiting Spanish warship, the Rayo

and while waiting to meet a friend for tea, I had the opportunity to snap the reflections in the glass-panelled exterior of the Westin Hotel.

Again : another break in the rainy spell allowed for an afternoon stroll doing the figure of eight walk around the two lakes at Intaka

You folks in the Cape are so fortunate to have all that splendour on your doorstep, and I’m always grateful that you share it with those of us who seldom see it for ourselves. To have a simple evening excursion and see such beauty is the stuff of dreams. Thanks, Irene.
